A Dallas Investment Platform

An incubator for Dallas’s next generation of institutional hedge fund managers.

Y Street Incubator gives emerging portfolio managers the capital, infrastructure, and coaching to build an institutional-quality hedge fund strategy in Dallas.

Our Vision

Transform Dallas into a genuine alternative asset capital — a buyside ecosystem that stands alongside New York, Miami, and San Francisco.
Y Street Incubator

Our Model

A focused program for managers ready to build something institutional.

Y Street Incubator gives a small number of promising managers the capital, infrastructure, and coaching to run an institutional-quality strategy in Dallas, with a structured path toward operating independently.

Source

A small number of institutional-quality managers are selected to join the program, across strategies including long/short equity, macro, event-driven, and fixed income.

Incubate

Managers operate from Dallas with capital, trading infrastructure, and hands-on coaching for the duration of the program.

Spin out

Managers who are ready move on to run their own independent business, with the structure of that transition set individually.

The Program

A structured program built around infrastructure, not just capital.

Managers work from a shared office in Dallas, with access to trading infrastructure, a research allowance, and hands-on coaching throughout the program. Capital is provided to help managers operate and grow.

The program runs on a multi-year timeline, generally around 36 months. Specific terms — including compensation, capital allocation, and program length — are discussed individually with each prospective manager rather than published here.

  • A defined, multi-year program timeline
  • Capital provided to help managers operate
  • Shared office, trading infrastructure, and a dedicated research allowance
  • Structured coaching and risk oversight throughout the program
  • Focus on institutional-quality strategies: long/short equity, macro, event-driven, and fixed income

For Managers

Build your strategy on someone else’s infrastructure, then take it with you.

Y Street Incubator gives emerging portfolio managers the capital, salary, and operational backbone to run an institutional-quality strategy — without the up-front cost or risk of starting alone.

Autonomy to build your own business

Full autonomy over the strategy you run, with a clear, structured path toward operating independently.

Institutional infrastructure

Trading, operational, and compliance support, so you can focus on markets instead of building a back office from scratch.

No up-front cost

Salary, benefits, and office space are provided during the program, removing the personal financial risk of starting a fund alone.

Structured risk oversight

Hands-on coaching and a defined risk framework support you throughout the program, with specifics shared individually.

No non-compete

You leave with the strategy and business you built — a deliberate contrast to the multi-year non-competes now common at some platforms.

Meaningful upside

A compensation structure designed to reward managers who perform, walked through in detail during the application process.

Who we look for

Institutional-quality strategies with a defined edge.

Y Street prioritizes managers with extensive domain expertise across long/short equity, macro, event-driven, and fixed income strategies — portfolio managers pursuing the strongest possible risk-adjusted returns within their given mandate, not simply the highest gross exposure.

Coaching and risk oversight are part of the program from day one, with additional capital and support available to managers who demonstrate strong, consistent performance over time.

The Y’all Street Opportunity

Dallas has the talent for a hedge fund industry. It has lacked the incubation infrastructure.

Finance employment, cost structure, and tax policy have been moving in Dallas’s favor for years. Y Street exists to convert that advantage into a concentrated hub of institutional managers.

387,700 Finance employment in DFW

Compares with roughly 515,700 in New York City and 216,000 in Miami–Fort Lauderdale–Palm Beach.

50–75% Lower cost structure

Versus New York City, across office space and overall cost of living.

0% Texas state income tax

Compares with a combined New York State and City rate near 14.8%, and California’s 13.3% top rate.

2026 Texas Stock Exchange launch

Another sign of capital markets infrastructure building around Dallas.

Dallas-Fort Worth has grown steadily from about 159,000 in 1990 to roughly 388,000 in 2026, overtaking Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Palm Beach in the mid-1990s while New York City has stayed relatively flat, ending near 516,000. 0 100k 200k 300k 400k 500k 600k 1990 1995 2000 2005 2010 2015 2020 2025

A Multi-Decade Trend

Dallas’s finance sector has grown steadily for over three decades.

Since the early 1990s, finance employment in Dallas–Fort Worth has climbed from levels below Miami–Fort Lauderdale–Palm Beach to well above it, while New York City’s finance employment base has been comparatively flat over the same period. The gap between Dallas and the coastal hubs on cost, tax, and quality of life has continued to widen even as the talent base has grown.

What Dallas has not had is a structured way to convert that talent pool into independent, institutional hedge fund managers — the role Y Street is built to fill.

Why It Matters Now

  • A deep, growing base of finance talent already based in Dallas
  • A structural cost and tax advantage relative to New York, Miami, and California
  • New capital markets infrastructure, including the planned 2026 Texas Stock Exchange launch
  • A continuing shift of finance professionals away from New York and California
  • No existing Y Combinator–style incubation infrastructure purpose-built for hedge funds in Dallas
